Sudan Trade Mission, January 2016

Middle East AssociationLed by the Middle East Association, a multi-sector trade mission to Sudan will be held in Khartoum from 25th January to 1st February 2016.

Sudan benefits from a wealth of natural resources and is attracting increasing foreign investment from a number of Arab countries. Collectively, the EU is Sudan’s 3rd largest trading partner and the UK accounts for around 20% of that business. There is a long and shared history between the two countries and the UK strives to be part of the transformation that will create a Sudan better able to meet the needs of its people. Oil remains the main source of revenue and since 1999 and has been the main contributor to GDP growth.

A mission reception at the British Embassy is planned and the MEA’s objective is to introduce new British companies, particularly Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs), to the market and to help existing exporters to  strengthen their presence in Sudan.

The British Embassy will assist mission participants with a programme taking into account their individual needs, and will assist them in obtaining a Sudanese business visa. There will be a bilingual mission brochure which will advertise each participant company’s products & services to potential contacts, and the mission will be led by an experienced mission director who has visited Sudan on several occasions.

Company representatives attending trade shows and international market events are advised that Arabic business cards and promotional materials should be considered a basic requirement: overseas events provide an excellent opportunity to make new contacts and to exchange information about your company’s products & services.

Not only is this an important opportunity to provide essential contact information in your client’s language, it also shows a degree of commitment and indicates respect towards your potential business partners.
